Our first two days in Waikiki

Flowers and shrubs along the beach-front
Yesterday morning, we were up bright and early to go and explore our new surroundings.  The sky was blue, the air was already warm at 8:30 the soft breeze was refreshing, the exotic flowers were in bloom, the shrubs were manicured and people were already swimming in the pacific by the time we were on the beach taking a walk, thoroughly enjoying our first moments in this little paradise.

We came back to the apartment and spent the remainder of the day setting things up and going to buy groceries.  Later on in the afternoon we received about 45 minutes of rain which came out of nowhere.  The folks around here tell us it's typical for that to happen, that is why the flowers the trees and lawns are so lush and green.

The Ilikai as seen
from the beach
This morning when we went out for our morning walk, the filming crews were setting up on the lagoon right in front of the Ilikai Towers getting ready to shoot a segment of Hawaii FiveO.

Along with many other curious on-lookers enjoying their daily activities on the beach, we watched for a while observing all the details that go into the filming of a very short segment of the show.

About Me

My photo
Ever since I was a little boy watching a TV program called "Route 66", I have dreamed of driving to California. Well, this year is our 40th wedding anniversary so Rosella and I decided that we would take a 14 week road trip to California to commemorate this important milestone in our life together. We leave on Feb 8th and will take until Feb 26th to get to San Francisco via Portland Maine, Buffalo New York, Indianapolis Indiana, Marionville Missouri, Amarillo Texas, Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico, Denver Colorado, Salt Lake City Utah, and Reno Nevada. In San Francisco we have a condo rented for a week. We then spend a week in Los Angeles, a week in Las Vegas followed by a month stay in Phoenix Arizona. We then head to San Diego for a week before working our way back to Chicago for a week, then on to Washington DC with the Obama's for a week followed by our return home in mid-May via Amish country in Pennsylvania.
